Build your first trustworthy lesson
Move from one learning goal to a small, checked lesson packet, with an explicit decision about what is ready to use.
150 min · proposed study budget. Allow additional time for review. This is not a tested completion time or a certification.
One teacher-edited lesson plan with a goal, prerequisites, exact tasks, and a feasible sequence; A learner task and exit check with stable labels, plus a separate independently checked teacher key; A short change record identifying the substantive choices you made and any held material.

Move from one learning goal to a small, checked lesson packet, with an explicit decision about what is ready to use.
Goal
Author a lesson in which the modeled work, learner tasks, answer key, access choices, and exit check all serve the same learning goal. Here, trustworthy means that the stated checks have been completed; it is not a guarantee of effectiveness.
Prerequisites
- One teaching goal that you can explain and assess yourself
- Familiarity with the subject matter, or a qualified colleague available to check it
- Original or permitted materials, ordinary lesson constraints, and paper or an approved file location
- If using AI, an institution-approved tool for this purpose; every trial input remains fully synthetic and contains no student records
Proposed time
Proposed planning estimate: 125 minutes across the linked workflows plus 25 minutes for the practice exercise. Split into several sittings if useful. These are not measured completion times; unresolved checks require more time.
Ordered route
1. Author a lesson from a teaching goal
Proposed estimate: 30 minutes.
Write a narrow design brief and author the exact modeled, guided, independent, and exit tasks. Include one example of sufficient evidence and one response that would not yet show the goal.
Checkpoint: A timed first plan exists, and you can point to the particular reasoning its exit response must reveal.
2. Verify sources and answer keys
Proposed estimate: 20 minutes.
Solve every task independently before comparing it with the drafted key. For factual claims, record the precise claim, a primary source you opened, and whether that source actually supports it. Leave alignment unclaimed unless you checked the exact official standard.
Checkpoint: Each answer has a checkable solution. Any unsupported claim is removed, revised, or clearly held; fluent wording does not clear a hold.
3. Adapt a task without changing its learning goal
Proposed estimate: 25 minutes.
Compare the original directions with one clearer version. Preserve quantities, conditions, and the reasoning required. Choose an alternate response route only when that mode is not itself the learning target.
Checkpoint: You can solve both versions to the same answer. Any translation without appropriate human review remains outside the learner packet.
4. Build a coherent lesson-material packet
Proposed estimate: 30 minutes.
Assemble the plan, learner task, separate teacher key, and exit check using stable task labels. Trace a change in one number into every dependent answer and reference.
Checkpoint: All references resolve to the same task values and version. Opening the learner copy reveals neither the teacher key nor drafting notes.
5. Check a lesson before teaching
Proposed estimate: 20 minutes.
Walk through the packet with its actual materials and time limits. Decide ready, revise, or hold for each component. Then complete the linked repair exercise without looking at its worked answer first.
Checkpoint: The exit task still checks the goal; timing includes transitions; no unresolved accuracy, permission, or access issue is concealed by a ready label.
Finished output
- One teacher-edited lesson plan with a goal, prerequisites, exact tasks, and a feasible sequence
- A learner task and exit check with stable labels, plus a separate independently checked teacher key
- A short change record identifying the substantive choices you made and any held material
Self-check
- Could someone infer the learning goal from the exit response you require?
- Can you show the independent calculation or source check for every key claim?
- Does the support remove a barrier while leaving the target reasoning to the learner?
- If one number changes, do you know every place that must be rechecked?
- Have you opened the learner version rather than checking only the authoring file?
- Would you hold the lesson if an essential check remained unresolved, even if the packet looked finished?
Practice
Open the worked practice exercise. Try it before reading its answer.
Next use
After one use, privately note one instruction you would clarify. Recheck the changed component before reuse; do not infer learning gains from a completed preparation checklist.
